September Driving T1D Cures with the JDRF

JDRF Cheque Presentation

Millions of people worldwide are impacted by T1D (Type 1 Diabetes), a physically and emotionally tedious autoimmune condition. The Brevitas team recognized the incredible work done by Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation towards ending this invisible and incurable disease. Hence, it was decided that Brevitas would donate $500 to the JDRF during our September “Attitude of Gratitude”, 12 Months of Giving Campaign.

The JDRF is the world’s largest funder T1D research. Their objectives include research for restoring the body’s ability to make insulin and the improvement of treatments that simplify the lives of people with T1D. They have three main areas of focus:

  1. Screening: People are screened for autoantibodies that predict at a near 100% rate that they will develop T1D in their lifetime.
  2. Disease-Modifying Therapies: Drugs are developed that slow or halt the progression of T1D.
  3. Cell Therapies: Investments are made in research and clinical trials to develop and deliver life-changing therapies that place healthy, insulin-producing beta cells back into the bodies of people with T1D.

Finding the cure for T1D sounds like a lofty goal. However, the JDRF continues to attract top researchers who work to bridge the gap to finding a cure. The Brevitas team is proud to support the fostering of a healthy research community that strives to make advancements every day towards improving the quality of human life.
