November Unleashing Potential with the LFC Dog Guides

Dog guides are an irreplaceable resource for disabled people from all walks of life. The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides operates under the highest standards in matching disabled Canadians with a lifetime canine companion. Our team at Brevitas was moved by their passion to empower Canadians through creating these exceptional partnerships. Since the organization does not receive government funding, we decided to help fund the LFC Dog Guides during our ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ charitable campaign with a $500 donation.
The LFC Dog Guides believes that when a dog’s potential is unleashed, so is a person’s. To maximize their dogs’ potential, they invest $35,000 in taking specially bred dogs through a comprehensive two-year training curriculum. The program equips the dogs with the skills necessary to tackle virtually any situation.
Since 1985, three thousand Dog Guide teams have graduated and over 1,000 active Dog Guide teams are being supported across the country. Over the years, the organization has honed in on seven key areas in which they train their dog guides. These areas are:
- Hearing
- Seizure response
- Service
- Autism assistance
- Diabetic alert
- Facility support
- Canine vision
Living with disabilities is tough, but with thoroughly trained dog guides, the disabled can confidently navigate the world. We at Brevitas fully stand behind the LFC Dog Guides’ mission to improve accessibility for impacted Canadians with dog guides. We are excited to see more Canadians gain the support they need as the organization continues to expand its training facilities.
