December Bonus Charitable Campaign: CARD

Community Association for Riders with Disabilities Donation

According to the WHO, people with disabilities—one billion people— are one of the most excluded groups in our society. In light of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Brevitas team decided to extend our 2022 Attitude of Gratitude Charitable campaign to support disabled Canadians. This December, our team donated $500 to the Community Association for Riders with Disabilities (CARD) to help fund their equine therapies.

CARD’s values stood out to us in their emphasis to foster a culture of respect and deliver client-centered programs. For those with disabilities, riding has been recognized as beneficial for over 3,000 years. Over time, CARD has created therapeutic programs that hone in on a series of benefits:

  1. Physical: Pelvic and spine mobility, Balance, Coordination, Strength, Postural control, Physical stamina, Range of motion in joints and limbs
  2. Cognitive: Communication skills, Attention span, Structured thinking
  3. Emotional: Confidence and self-esteem, Social interaction

We’re excited to support the world’s largest minority group and an organization that pushes the boundaries in empowering them. We can’t wait to see more Canadians gain the therapeutic benefits of horse riding as CARD’s therapeutic riding programs continue to grow!
